Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Bread
- Begin by selecting a thick slice of bread. Using a thicker slice prevents the egg from soaking through, keeping the toast crisp while the egg cooks.
- Using a spoon, press down the center of the bread to create a shallow indent. This will help the egg stay in place during cooking.
- Spread butter over the edges of the bread slice to enhance its flavor and help it crisp up in the air fryer.
Step 2: Add the Egg
- Carefully crack the egg into the indented area of the bread. Be sure to crack the egg gently to prevent it from spilling over the sides.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to bring out the egg’s natural flavor. If desired, you can sprinkle shredded cheese over the top for a rich, cheesy addition.
Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 2-3 minutes. Preheating ensures even cooking and a nicely browned, crispy toast.
- Spray or brush the air fryer basket lightly with oil to prevent sticking.
Step 4: Air Fry the Egg Toast
- Carefully place the prepared egg toast in the air fryer basket. Avoid overloading the basket, as the egg toast needs space for hot air to circulate.
- Cook at 350°F for 6-8 minutes, depending on how runny or firm you want the egg yolk to be. For a runny yolk, check after 6 minutes; for a firmer yolk, cook for up to 8 minutes.
- When the egg white is fully set and the toast is golden brown, remove the toast from the air fryer.
