Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and optional nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
