Ingredients:
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Directions:
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Toss to coat the beef evenly, then set aside to marinate for 15-20 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and stir to combine with the vegetables.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth or water, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, black pepper, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables in the skillet.
- Continue to cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the beef and vegetables evenly.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish the Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions with thinly sliced green onions.
- Serve the dish hot over cooked rice or noodles, and enjoy!
