Step 1: Prepare the Oreo Crust
- Crush the Oreo cookies: Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they form fine crumbs. If you don’t have a food processor, you can place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
- Combine with butter: In a bowl, mix the Oreo crumbs with the melted butter until well combined.
- Press into a pie dish: Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish. Use the back of a measuring cup or your fingers to ensure it’s compact.
Step 2: Make the Peanut Butter Filling
- Beat the cream cheese: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Add peanut butter and sugar: Mix in the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Fold in whipped topping: Gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Step 3: Assemble the Pie
- Spread the filling: Pour the peanut butter filling into the prepared Oreo crust, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- Add topping: Spread another cup of whipped topping over the peanut butter layer, and sprinkle with crushed Oreos for garnish.
Step 4: Chill
- Refrigerate: Cover the pie with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set. For best results, refrigerate overnight.
Tips for Success
- Softening Cream Cheese: Make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth filling. Leave it out for about 30 minutes before mixing.
- For a Firmer Pie: If you prefer a firmer filling, consider adding an extra 1/4 cup of powdered sugar.
- Toppings: Feel free to get creative with toppings! You can drizzle chocolate sauce or add chopped peanuts for extra crunch.
