Step-by-Step Instructions for Lemon Butter Crab
Step 1: Prepare the Crab
- If using whole crab legs, rinse them under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Use a crab cracker to slightly crack the legs, making it easier for the flavors to seep in.
- If using crab meat, ensure it’s drained and ready for cooking.
Step 2: Make the Lemon Butter Sauce
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until it’s fragrant and just starting to turn golden (be careful not to burn the garlic).
- Add the lemon juice, lemon zest, and, if using, the white wine or chicken broth. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for another minute.
Step 3: Cook the Crab in the Sauce
- Add the crab legs or crab meat to the skillet with the lemon butter sauce. Gently toss to coat the crab with the sauce.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and, if desired, red pepper flakes. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the crab is heated through and has absorbed the flavors of the sauce.
- Stir occasionally and spoon the sauce over the crab to ensure even coating.
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
- Once the crab is ready, transfer it to a serving platter.
- Drizzle any remaining lemon butter sauce over the crab and sprinkle with chopped parsley for a pop of color and added freshness.
Serving Suggestions
